Man sentenced to life for raping a three-year-old

Rapist Velenkosini Myeni, 32, of Ntoyeni Reserve in Mbonambi will spend the rest of his life in jail after he was convicted of rape and sentenced to life imprisonment in the Empangeni Regional Court last Wednesday, Zululand Observer reports.
Myeni’s name will also be listed on the national register of sex offenders.
The court heard that on December 28 2015, a three-year-old girl was playing outside her homestead with other children when Myeni called her.
A 15-year-old boy walking in the veld heard the child screaming in the bushes, and when he went to investigate, he discovered Myeni busy raping the child and so he called the elders for help.
Community members hurried to the scene and apprehended Myeni, handing him over to the police.
