Dros group CEO Rene Jordaan said business was fantastic on Monday.
“We sold over 450 cups of coffee on the first day,” he said.
The small shop, opposite the court, managed to achieve its daily target very early in the morning.
“We achieved our target by 11am. It largely had to do with the press that is here,” he said.
Journalists also consumed vast amounts of food.
Chicken and burgers were the favourites.
“We sold over 700 pieces of chicken and over 80 portions of ribs. We also sold over 400 chicken burgers,” said Jordaan.
The business, which will be a permanent feature in the CBD, has ambitions of becoming a favourite.
He said although business was booming largely due to the media presence, he believed the locals would continue to support the franchise.
“We are not only catering for the court. This is going to be here for the next five years,” he said.
