The driver was not charged and is now a free man, and according to several reports, an official from the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) said there was no case against the driver, as provincial police said there was not enough evidence against him.
There has apparently been a unilateral decision to release him.
An NPA official who spoke to The Citizen also confirmed the driver has been released, but said an official statement would be released on Wednesday afternoon.
