Didiza in court for District Six land battle
The claimants continue their fight to have land they were removed from during apartheid returned to them in the Land Claims Court.

Judgment in the matter between the land reform department and District Six land claimants is expected on Friday as the court will decide if Minister Thoko Didiza will be held in contempt of court for failing to provide a proper outline for restitution for claimants.
The claimants continue their fight to have land they were removed from during apartheid returned to them in the Land Claims Court, which is expected to rule on the matter on Friday.
Current Land Reform Minister Didiza may bear the brunt due to her predecessor Maite Nkoana-Mashabane’s promise that government would have a plan to deliver compensation to District Six claimants by the end of August. This was due to a November court order which ordered government to come up with a plan by February.
After Nkoana-Mashabane admitted governments failure to come up with a proper plan, claimants took the matter back to court, according to EWN reports.
