Cooperation leads to successful arrests

Two alleged robbers were arrested in Val-de-Grace on Monday, thanks to the cooperation between Silverton police and the La Montagne, Murrayfield, Val-de-Grace Community Patrol Association (LMMCPA) in Pretoria, Pretoria East Rekord reports.

“A dark grey Ford Fiesta has been involved in various housebreakings in the area,” said LMMCPA chairperson Yolandé Giliomee.
“The suspects in the car also target vehicles parked outside schools and nurseries.”
Giliomee the LMMCPA’s camera team managed to map out the Ford Fiesta’s route.
On Monday, 13 members of the LMMCPA stood undercover along this route from 7am in the morning.
“The Silverton police were also involved in Operation Ford Fiesta,” Giliomee said.

At about 7.30am the vehicle was spotted by members of the LMMCPA.
“Warrant Officer Frans Prinsloo was quick on the scene and chased after the suspects.”
“The vehicle sped away in Nina Street towards Watermeyer Street and crashed into a wall.”
Giliomee said the culprits tried to run away but were caught by Prinsloo.
“Thank you very much to Silverton police, especially Warrant Officer Frans Prinsloo, Warrant Officer Riaan Bekker, Constable Craig Subramanien and Warrant Officer Malan Grunnig.
“It is such a privilege to be apart of the LMMCPA and to see people who really still do care about each other.”
Ward 41 councillor Ben Chapman said being part of a neighbourhood watch in your area was important and beneficial.
