According to a News24 report, the announcement was made during City Power’s Annual General Meeting on Thursday.
Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba’s office told the news website that the board operated on an annual basis, and their contracts were not renewed.
Last month, public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane confirmed that her office was investigating City Power. She said her probe was at an advanced stage.
The investigation followed Mashaba’s decision to instruct the city’s forensics department to also investigate City Power tenders valued at billions of rands.
African National Congress veteran Reverend Frank Chikane chaired the board.
