Charges against jailed SA man and pregnant fiancée dropped in Abu Dhabi

The couple, who are not married, transgressed the United Arab Emirates' morality laws by getting pregnant.

The charges against a South African man and his pregnant fiancée have reportedly been dropped in Abu Dhabi.

This, after the couple were arrested at a hospital after it was found that Ukrainian national Iryna Nohai was pregnant and that she and her fiancé Emlyn Culverwell were not married and had therefore transgressed the United Arab Emirates’ morality laws.

TimesLive is reporting that after the couple posted bail in Abu Dhabi, the charges against them were dropped.

They had been arrested on January 29.

On Monday, TimesLive reported that Culverwell’s mother was petitioning for their release.
