A family from Daspoort, west of Pretoria are cornered about their safety after yet another vehicle crashed into their property over the weekend, reports Pretoria Moot Rekord.
The house is located at the end of Wilhelm Street at a T-intersection with Claremont Street.
Rina Steenkamp, the sister of the homeowner Caren Dicks, said so many accidents had happened on their property, yet the Tshwane metro had done nothing to improve the road.

“This was the third incident [in a space of a year] where a vehicle had smashed into the property. In total, I can’t recall how many vehicles landed into the property, it has been happening for years now and we want the municipality to build barriers to avoid further accidents,” she said.
On Sunday morning, the driver of the bakkie was said to have ploughed into the fence and into the house around 2am.
“Early this morning, a man crashed into my sister’s home. His bakkie crashed into one of the rooms, where a couple and their son were sleeping. Luckily they were unharmed.”
The driver sustained injuries and was taken to the hospital, Steenkamp said.
Best Care spokesperson Xander Loubser said the driver suffered slight injuries.
“He was treated on scene and transported to Kalafong hospital.”
Three weeks ago, another bakkie shattered the wall, which had been built especially to protect the house after a truck smashed into a bedroom of the house a year ago.
Steenkamp had previously told Rekord that her family lived in fear.
“We go to sleep at night not knowing who will drive through the wall next.”
She said moving was not an option because the house had been in the family for generations.“It was passed down to my sister by our parents and their parents gave it to them,” said Steenkamp.
DA ward councillor Elma Nel said the matter would be attended to.
“We have requested an urgent intervention with speed calming measures in Wilhelm and Claremont streets.”
