Minister Mokonyane’s husband passes away

The husband of Minister of Environmental Affairs Nomvula Mokonyane has passed away, government spokesperson Mlimandlela Ndamase has confirmed.
Serge Mokonyane passed away after being hospitalised for an illness.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr Serge Mokonyane, husband to Minister of Environmental Affairs, Nomvula Mokonyane, at a Johannesburg hospital this morning,” a statement from government says.
“Mr Mokonyane was hospitalised last month and sadly passed on this morning.
“The minister and family are officially in mourning and humbly request privacy at this moment of grief.
“The family will in due course communicate details pertaining to the funeral and any other memorial events and services.”
Messages of condolence have been flooding in on social media following the news of Serge Mokonyane’s passing.
