The DA’s disciplinary hearing against Cape Town Mayor Patricia de Lille has been adjourned indefinitely after a panel member recused himself.
De Lille had previously argued that Pogiso Monchusi was not a fit and proper person to be part of the panel. She also wants Sheila Camerer to recuse herself after she accused her of being incompetent and unsuitable to be part of the disciplinary panel.
The DA was expected to announce today its ruling on whether De Lille’s disciplinary hearing can be open to the public and the media following the postponement of the announcement, which was initially expected on Tuesday.
The hearing spent the whole of Tuesday debating issues that, according to De Lille, were technical issues surrounding the hearing, including the appointment of the panel and the constitutional requirements of the party.
The DA has charged De Lille with misconduct, maladministration and corruption.
