An 8-year-old boy was burnt to death and several people were injured in a fire at a flat in Bellville on Monday, Cape Town Fire and Rescue Services told News24.
According to spokesperson Theo Lane, the fire on the 3rd and 4th floors has been contained but not yet extinguished.
Lane also confirmed two women were injured after jumping from the 3rd floor, including a grandmother who was holding a baby.
“The grandmother had jumped with [the] baby, but the baby is okay,” he said.
Lane said one of the woman was in a critical condition with burns to 60% of her body, with the other woman thought to have sustained spinal cord injuries.
