Bosasa’s former COO Angelo Agrizzi on Friday told the commission of inquiry into state capture that the large donation the company made to the ANC’s top six was presented to the governing party’s leadership structure by a delegation from the company, which included CEO Gavin Watson.
Agrizzi said he could not recall the exact amount of the cheque that was presented to the party’s top six, saying it could have been R8 million, R10 million, or R12 million.
On Thursday, he had told the commission the amount was R12 million. However, he clarified today that although he could not recall the exact amount, it had been “substantial”.

Agrizzi said: “In lieu of that, we got T-shirts and blankets.”
He said the donation was made around the period of 2004, 2005 or 2006, adding that he had asked the commission’s legal team to check the company’s bank statements to confirm this.
Agrizzi clarified that the donation had not been made to the individuals making up the top six of the ANC but that the cheque had been made out to the party.
The ANC has applied to cross-examine Agrizzi at the commission and have reportedly expressed concern that his statements could hamper their election efforts.
