Bheki Cele claims there’s a plot to remove Ramaphosa and destabilise SA

ANC national executive committee member Bheki Cele claims he has been shown a message that supposedly outlines plans to remove Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa from Cabinet in order to destabilise the country, EWN reports.

Speaking on Sunday at a Cosatu shop stewards’ council meeting in Durban, Cele reportedly could not provide more details on the alleged plot and the source of the message. He also did not mention who could possibly replace Ramaphosa as deputy president.

He, however, told delegates the aim of the plot was to cause enough chaos for the ANC’s national elective conference not to go ahead in December as planned, but to be held only in 2018.

Cele alleged there could be a surge of political assassinations involving ANC leaders that have largely been taking place in KwaZulu-Natal.

He reportedly said he hoped the contents of the message were not true because he found the so-called plan “shocking”, as it signalled there was a group of people who could be deliberately designing the chaos in the country.

The KZN provincial shop stewards’ council meeting was also attended by Cosatu’s Sdumo Dlamini and SACP general-secretary Blade Nzimande, according to the report.
