Are you witches? Mbalula asks SAfm after inaccurate tweet

Police Minister Fikile Mbalula was left outraged after SAfm on Tuesday night misquoted him. The radio station tweeted Mbalula said his ministry’s target was to reduce crime in South Africa by 2% in the next 12 years.

The minister, along with his followers, criticised the radio station for getting the numbers wrong, with one saying: “Any self-respecting individual can see this is a lie, the question is why?”

Mbalula responded to the tweet and asked the radio station why they were lying at that time of the night.

“Niyathakatha yini (are you witches)?” he asked.

In his address on Tuesday, Mbalula said: “If we desire good results, we must change course. In terms of our planning and targets, we are supposed to be reducing crime by 2% per year up to 2030. We know that at present due to regressive past crime statistical results we now have a 2.4% crime reduction target for this current financial year.”

This is how his followers reacted to the mishap:
