ANC Women’s League slated for donating groceries to Karabo’s family
In a picture circulating on social media, members of the league can be seen taking Handy Andy, eggs, and other food items to the Mokoena household.
The ANC Women’s League, led by its leader, Bathabile Dlamini, on Tuesday visited family of Karabo Mokoena, who was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend, Sandile Mantsoe, in Diepkloof, Soweto.
After speaking to the family, the league took groceries they had bought to the family, and each member carried one item to the house, as seen on a front-page picture of The Star circulating on social media.
The move has been highly criticised, with Mbhazima Shilowa saying the league was “mocking the poor”.
“One thing you’ve got to give to the ANC is how they’ve dulled our outrage. I mean how outrageous is this? Mocking the poor, it is, to me,” he said.
