As the controversy over former Eskom CEO Brian Molefe’s deployment to Parliament rages on, it has emerged that one of the African National Congress’ (ANC) top MPs from the finance committee, Makhosi Khoza, has been reportedly removed from the portfolio to make way for Molefe.
The Business Day reports that Khoza – who has gained much public respect for speaking truth to power as a member of the parliamentary ad-hoc committee that conducted the inquiry into the fitness of the SABC board – has been moved to the public service and administration portfolio committee.

The national legislature announced on Friday that Molefe had been included on the list of MPs of North West, to much opposition from some of his purported branch members in Ward 29 in the Madibeng Local Municipality.
But the ANC says Molefe has been a member in good standing in Hartbeespoort since 2011. He is due to be sworn in as a Member of Parliament on Wednesday ahead of Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan’s full-year budget speech.
Speculation is rife that Molefe is set to take his place or at least become his deputy.
