AfriForum and its commercial interest group AfriBusiness will apply for an urgent interdict at the North Gauteng High Court in Pretoria on Tuesday to prevent Eskom from cutting electricity to five municipalities that have not paid their bills.
The lobby group said in a statement the move by the state-owned electricity producer to pull the plug would be unfair and unconstitutional if the municipalities had not paid over the billions that residents and businesses had already paid for the services.

The organisation said it believes there are other ways to go about recovering the money owed by the municipalities. It didn’t specify which municipalities will be affected.
The matter was due to be heard by the high court at 10:00.
