Three dead after hospital transport bus crashes near Ladysmith

One person died at the scene, and two others later succumbed to their injuries, while 24 people were injured in the crash.


The death toll has risen to three after a hospital bus transporting patients crashed along the R600 between Ladysmith and Winterton on Monday, reports Ladysmith Gazette.

It is believed that the patient transport bus was travelling from Winterton to a hospital in Ladysmith when it veered off the road and crashed down an embankment.

One person was declared dead at the scene, and two others later succumbed to their injuries.

Twenty-four people were injured in the horrific crash.

Paramedics and members of Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife worked tirelessly to bring the patients up from the bottom of the embankment.
