Six-year-old critical after six-floor fall in Durban

Rescue Care and other emergency services were on the scene in the CBD.

A six-year-old boy from KwaZulu-Natal is in a critical condition after falling six floors from a residential flat in the Durban CBD on Friday morning.

The boy fell from a flat on Doctor Pixley Kaseme Street in the heart of Durban’s CBD and sustained multiple injuries.

Rescue Care spokesperson Garrith Jamieson told News24 that medics arrived on the scene to find other emergency services on the scene.

The boy was found with serious injuries and advanced life support methods and a manual ventilator were used to treat the child before transporting him to the hospital.

“The child was also splintered and rushed to nearby hospital for care required. Events leading to the child falling are unknown, but police are in attendance and will be investigating further.”
