The South African Social Security Agency (Sassa) has a new interim CEO, MPs heard on Wednesday morning.
Social Development Minister Susan Shabangu announced that Abraham Mahlangu would fill the position during a meeting of parliament’s social development committee. According to Sassa’s website, Mahlangu was the grants agency’s chief information officer at its head office.
Shabangu said Sassa’s acting CEO Pearl Bhengu, who was considered close to former social development minister Bathabile Dlamini, had asked to be redeployed back to KwaZulu-Natal.
Bhengu was a regional executive manager of Sassa before her appointment last year in July.
