Man electrocuted

A man was killed when he apparently made contact with a live electric cable on Seaslopes Avenue in Margate, KwaZulu-Natal, on Saturday afternoon, paramedics said.

“Reports indicate that the man stopped [his car] next to the side of the road,” Netcare 911 spokeswoman Santi Steinmann said.

“After he exited his vehicle, he was electrocuted by an electrical wire on the ground.”

Paramedics tried to rescucitate the 59-year-old man but he was declared dead on the scene.

“Exact detail surrounding the incident and preceding events are still unclear at this stage and will remain the subject of a police investigation.”
