Former Transnet and Eskom CFO a no show at SAICA disciplinary hearing

Anoj Singh is facing charges relating to his alleged involvement in questionable dealings at the state-owned entities.

Former Eskom CFO Anoj Singh is reportedly not in attendance at the disciplinary hearing held by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA).

Singh, who is also a former Transnet CFO, is facing charges relating to his alleged involvement in questionable dealings at the state-owned entities.

Last year, SAICA charged Singh for misconduct following an extensive period of investigation.

He resigned from Eskom in January 2018 after being placed on suspension by the power utility in September 2017. This followed allegations he was involved in irregularly awarding contracts to Gupta-linked businesses, and also received gifts and trips from the controversial family.

Freelance broadcast journalist Erin Bates on Wednesday tweeted from the hearing held at the Webber Wentzel office in Sandton, Johannesburg, that Singh had chosen not to attend the hearing even though he had been sent notification of the dates when it would be held.

However, it was reported that SAICA’s legal representative was informed last week by Singh’s attorney via telephone that he would not be attending the hearing nor would he be sending a representative.
