21-year-old ‘visionary’ building his legacy

At only 21 years old, a young Centurion entrepreneur has published an inspirational book, is running a specialised design and marketing company and continues to empower the youth through motivational talks.

Mosotho Moshoane, born and raised in Pretoria, says he drew inspiration from entrepreneurs such as Vusi Thembekwayo and popular radio personality and businessperson DJ Sbu.

“I was not born with drive or inspiration. Most young people feel that you either have it or you don’t – and that can be extremely demotivating. I am inspired by trying to build a legacy which will help generations that come after I have lived,” he told The Saturday Citizen on Friday.

Being raised by parents that encouraged him to apply himself towards reaching his goals, the young author grew fond of entrepreneurship when he moved to Thailand to study towards a degree in Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Computer Information System.

After his return in May last year to focus on his vision, Moshoane started a marketing company known as Beatrootpineapple Marketing and recently launched his first book titled 15 Pages.

He said he identified a niche market for 15 Pages after realising that very few books in South Africa focused on business literacy.

The small pocket-size booklet, launched at Royal Elephant Hotel in Centurion last week, engages the reader in positive thoughts and visions for daily situations faced by many.

Although the booklet is not in fact 15 pages, Moshoane said the title creates an interest to find out more about what the content of the book entails.

“The normal book has about 300 pages but what people actually remember and apply lies in about 15 of the 300 pages and that’s how I came up with the title 15 Pages.”

Written, edited and published in only six months, Moshoane would release new helpful versions every six months.

“I realised that we don’t have many books that help us think correctly or see life in a very unique way. I felt that most authors play it safe and are worried about the reaction of the readers, so I decided to write a book that’s
quite raw but deep and useful to the readers.”

The motivational speaker’s greatest ambition was to be on the Forbes Under 30 List, aiming to be a millionaire by the age of 24. “This is to act as an example to young people that you don’t need to be ten years away from your deathbed to be wealthy and enjoy life.”
