‘Snake pastor’ probed after feeding congregants dog meat

The NSPCA is investigating whether or not the pastor is guilty of animal cruelty after he fed churchgoers dog meat in an effort to cure HIV.

Shortly after making headlines for switching up the menu at his church services, controversial pastor Penuel Mnguni has caught the attention of the National Council of Societies for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA) for feeding congregants dog meat.

Mnguni previously made headlines for spraying popular insecticide Doom in the faces of congregants, in addition to feeding them live snakes and mice.

He now claims that dog meat and blood can cure HIV, reports eNCA.

His church’s Facebook page recently uploaded video footage of the service in which he made these claims and proceeded to distribute the meat.

The page also features graphic photographs of the animals before and after the meat was prepared.

Nspca publicist Meg Wilson confirmed that it is only illegal to sell dog meat and if the pastor was merely distributing the meat to his congregation for free he was not contravening the law.

Wilson added that the Nspca is investigating the pastor for animal cruelty after they were alerted of the graphic images on the Facebook page which show decapitated dogs, which were later skinned and cooked.

The Nspca would like to determine how the animals were sourced, how they were killed and if there was any cruelty involved, which is against the law.
