Redi Tlhabi receives letter of demand from Malusi Gigaba’s lawyers

The minister is forging on with his legal claim against the TV host.

Television host and author Redi Tlhabi confirmed receiving a letter of demand from Home Affairs Minister Malusi Gigaba’s lawyers earlier today following their Twitter spat a few weeks ago.

The spat began after Tlhabi alleged Gigaba had instituted visa regulations restricting travel with a minor for personal reasons, citing a 2010 incident with his daughter and his ex-wife’s family.

Gigaba took to Twitter to correct Tlhabi before giving her a 24-hour deadline to retract her statements. She did not retract them and now Gigaba is pursuing legal action against her as he said he would a few weeks ago.

Gigaba initially stated his intention to sue her using official DHA channels as he believes Tlhabi made the allegations against him in his capacity as minister.

Tlhabi’s followers immediately weighed in on the matter, with some taking the action more seriously than others.
