WATCH: ANC Youth League meeting descends into violent chaos
Footage has emerged of an allegedly violent meeting that has seen the league both apologising for it and calling for the head of the man who shot the video.

Video footage shared by ANC insiders over the past few days appears to show how an ANC provincial executive committee (PEC) meeting of the ANC Youth League in the Western Cape at one point apparently descended into chaos.
The person who filmed the clip repeatedly claims in the footage that he was assaulted.

In a statement on Friday the ANC Youth League Western Cape clarified that they had met on Friday in Laingsburg in the Central Karoo, but downplayed the seriousness of what the footage apparently suggests.
Spokesperson Monwabisi Bahlekazi said the meeting received a political overview from provincial chairperson Muhammad Khalid Sayed “which was followed by robust engagements”.
He said the meeting had received feedback from their chairperson and secretary on their deployment to lead the lobbying process in other provinces for the Western Cape to occupy the position of deputy president for the league “in the person of Sifiso Tso Mtsweni” when the league’s national congress takes place.
“The meeting unanimously resolved on supporting Reggie Nkabinde and Sifiso Tso Mtsweni as the president and deputy president of the Youth League, respectively.
He said, though, that they had “noted the video that has been doing the rounds on social media of an unfortunate and unacceptable incident that occurred in the meeting. We owe our members, former Youth League leaders and activists, the ANC, and society as a whole an unreserved apology for this behaviour that has taken place.
“It is, however, our considered view that the taking of the video of a closed session of the meeting of the Youth League and its immediate mass distribution is an indication of a planned action to undermine the unity of the Youth League in the Western Cape.
“The organisational report is a closed session of the meeting and we have noted new tendencies to distribute activities and information from this session, whether to WhatsApp groups, Facebook posts or live videos. The PEC condemns this behavior.”
He said the PEC had written to the national executive committee of the Youth League to investigate “this deeply unfortunate incident”.
“We would like to urge every Youth League member to do everything in their power to protect our unity during this period and to use this month of Oliver Tambo to build a strong and united Youth League and ANC in the Western Cape as we head towards 2019 elections.”
