Bonang to lead UN’s ‘leave no girl behind’ talks in New York

Panellists for the discussion will include French President Emmanuel Macron and various other prime ministers.


TV personality Bonang Matheba will be in New York at the United Nations General Assembly as the lead moderator to the “Leave no girl behind” discussion.

According to an eNCA report, the reality TV star will be rubbing shoulders with the likes of French President Emmanuel Macron, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, British Prime Minister Theresa May and Norwegian Prime Minister Erna Solberg on Tuesday discussing the empowerment of young girls.

The discussion, titled “Twelve years to break barriers and leave no girl behind”, is expected to highlight ways of achieving quality education for all girls globally by 2030.

The talks will also include a number of globally respected professionals in different fields who will form part of the panel discussion.

Matheba will also speak at a special Global Citizen function before attending the Global Citizen Festival in New York on September 29.

She will also be a host at the South African Global Citizen Festival which will take place in Johannesburg on December 2. The likes of Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, Pharrel Williams, Jay Z and Chris Martin, Usher and more will be present in honour of Nelson Mandela’s centenary.

President Cyril Ramaphosa is also in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
