VIDEO: ‘Jews are wicked!’ says ranting anti-Semite

A video of a man caught ranting about Jewish people is one of 'a flurry of viciously anti-Semitic and threatening attacks' this week, says the SAJBD.

The South African Jewish Board of Deputies (SAJBD) has spoken out about what they call “a flurry of viciously anti-Semitic and threatening attacks” against South African Jews this week.

These incidents include a man caught on camera ranting at a group of Jewish people waiting for an El Al flight, calling them “wicked”.

SAJBD chairperson Shaun Zagnoev said while anti-Semitic content online was “unfortunately common”, the latest reported comments showed a level of hatred rarely seen.

“The posts show how easily radical anti-Israel sentiment can spill over into hateful slurs and threats against Jewish people in general. We are being told that we are ‘scum’, ‘rats’, ‘bastards’, ‘pigs’, ‘swine’ and ‘fat-nosed f**ks. We are further being warned that ‘our time is coming’ and that ‘the Holocaust will be a picnic after we are done with you’.

According to the SAJBD, a mural with a German flag, with a swastika inserted in it, also appeared this morning on Hamilton Street, Coronationville, in Johannesburg.

A German flag with a Nazi Swastika has been painted onto a road in Coronationville, Johannesburg.

“Every single one of these incidents is not only at attack on the Jewish community, but an attack on our very democracy. Racism has no place in this country,” the statement continued.
