She was apparently punched in the stomach by her attacker before he led her to a bathroom.

A 19-year-old woman was allegedly attacked and raped at the Voortrekker Monument on Saturday morning, Pretoria East Rekord reports.

“The young woman was confronted by an unknown man at the ‘Assegaai’ bathrooms,” Visser said.

He said these bathrooms were under renovation and cordoned off.

The man who approached the woman was apparently dressed in black with a balaclava hiding his face.

“He punched her in the stomach and then led her to the ‘Skool op Wiele’ bathrooms, where he raped her,” Visser told Pretoria East Rekord.

Police spokesperson Captain Augustinah Selepe said police were still searching for the perpetrator.

“No arrest has yet been made,” said Selepe.

“Police are investigating.”
