Four critically injured, others seriously in KZN minibus taxi, car crash

At least 19 people were injured, four critically and several others seriously, when a minibus taxi and a car collided on Helpmekaar Road in Ladysmith in KwaZulu-Natal on Sunday, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics arrived at the scene at about 8.30am and found that one person had been ejected from the taxi, ER24 spokesperson Annine Siddall said.

Another person was still trapped in the taxi and was later extricated by ER24 and provincial emergency services personnel.

Four people were critically injured while about 15 others sustained moderate to serious injuries. They were transported to a nearby hospital for further medical care by ER24 and other emergency services on the scene. The circumstances surrounding the collision were not yet known, Siddall said.
