WATCH: Trevor Noah tells Daily Show audience about Momberg’s sentence

This morning, Momberg's application for leave to appeal was postponed to April 11.

South African comedian and host of the Daily Show Trevor Noah explained to his audience why convicted racist Vicki Momberg was sent to prison for the racial slurs she uttered to a black police officer in 2016.

This morning, Momberg’s application for leave to appeal was postponed to April 11 after she was sent to an effective two years’ jail time by the Randburg Magistrates’ Court last week.

The leave to appeal application was postponed because of her legal representative being ill.

Lawyer Kingdom Onah, standing in for Advocate Kevin Lawlor for Momberg, told the court his colleague was unwell and that the defence would be requesting the transcript of the 10111 call recordings used during the trial.

Last week, Momberg was also denied bail pending her appeal application.
