Buses collide in Tshwane, 33 injured

Heavy rains and electricity outages have affected Tshwane.

A total of 33 people were slightly injured when two buses were involved in an accident under the bridge in Es’kia Mphahlele street (formerly DF Malan Street) in Tshwane.

Best Care spokesperson Xander Loubser said several ambulances were on the scene and transporting patients to various state hospitals.

The accident was possibly linked to the heavy rain. Loubser said no one was seriously injured and there were no entrapments or fatalities.

“About 100 metres before the accident scene is a waste truck that got stuck halfway in the road.

“There is a traffic delay into the Pretoria central business district,” Loubser said.

In Stormvoël Road traffic was moving at a snail’s pace as several traffic lights were also out of order.

Tshwane spokesperson Selby Bokaba said a faulty electricity pole was reported last night and the city was attending to it.
