UPDATE: Worker beaten, abused, allegedly by manager

In the clip, what appears to be a supervisor in the Lenasia Food Lover's Market store room threatens to kill a bleeding young worker.

In a clip that has been doing the rounds since Monday night, a man can be seen being choked while bleeding in a fruit and vegetable store room.

The Citizen can confirm that the fruit and vegetable store the incident took place in was Food Lover’s Market in Lenasia, and that the beating took place on Sunday 25 February.

The allegation is that the encounter is racially provoked and that an employee – allegedly named Banele Mdingazwe – was victimised by as many as three of his managers or co-workers.

Food Lover’s Market spokesperson revealed that the company is busy investigating the incident, and will provide a statement as soon as due investigative and disciplinary processes have been followed.

Comedian David Kau shared the video on his Twitter timeline on Tuesday morning claiming that the fight was stoked by someone who lied that the victim had plans to stab his supervisor. Other alleged reasons for the attack have been circulating on WhatsApp and social media.

In the clip, a man speaking both Afrikaans and English can be seen choking the apparent victim and threatening to kill him while swearing repeatedly. Security is finally called in.

At this stage, it is factually unconfirmed what actually preceded this violence.

Take a look at the clip below. WARNING: Distressing footage.
