This is how pro-Zuma MPs want to get Jackson Mthembu fired

ANC parliamentary chief whip Mthembu said the group of MPs were not good at their jobs and he was unfazed by their efforts.

Mthembu is facing dissent from several MPs lead by Mervyn Dicks, the man who got into an altercation with another ANC MP Priscilla Mantashe about two weeks ago.

The MPs are set to use the ANC elective conference to lobby for Mthembu to not be elected to the National Executive Committee, effectively ensuring that he is no longer the party’s chief whip, reports the Sunday Times.

“At conference we will discuss many issues. We will also discuss the issue of performance of ANC deployees in government and parliament. We won’t support him for the NEC. I will raise it.

Jackson is using parliament as a launching pad to fight his own narrow factional battle against the president and certain members of the cabinet

“We want to ensure that people like Jackson get removed from [leadership] positions. Jackson is using parliament as a launching pad to fight his own narrow factional battle against the president and certain members of the cabinet,” said Dirks.

Mthembu meanwhile is unfazed and said he already had a large number of nominations to remain in the NEC by various provinces including KZN.

“The provinces have put me on the national executive committee. The Eastern Cape and KwaZulu-Natal have put me on as an additional member. They will have one hell of a mountain to climb,” he said.
