South Africans divided over Spur R50 special

In celebration of their 50th birthday, Spur has decided to offer customers selected meals at cheaper prices than usual.
The birthday special is a three-day event during which anyone can get 300g ribs, a 200g rump or sirloin steak, or a chicken schnitzel for only R50 at any Spur outlet.
The promotion has effectively almost halved the prices of the meals, which normally sell for R99.90. South Africans have taken full advantage of this, with many flocking to Spur and waiting in long queues.
Social media users also weighed in on the situation. Many expressed their excitement at the once-off occasion and poked fun at customers, while others criticised the restaurant and its supporters, and reminded people of the alleged racial incident that occured inside a Spur restaurant earlier this year.
