Girl, 11, seriously injured in Pretoria hit-and-run

An 11-year-old girl was seriously injured in a hit-and-run accident in Olievenhoutbosch in Centurion, Pretoria late on Friday afternoon, paramedics said.

ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene at about 5.30pm where they found the girl on the side of the road, ER24 spokesman Werner Vermaak said.
“Paramedics found her with extensive injuries to both her upper legs. She was stabilised on [the] scene and rushed to a nearby hospital for further care.
“It is understood from bystanders that the girl was sitting on the side of the road when a vehicle veered on to the side and collided with her. They (bystanders) explained that the vehicle left the scene shortly after colliding with the girl. According to bystanders, they reported the incident to local authorities,” Vermaak said.
