The video shows the learner throwing a brick at the boy's head in an alleged bullying incident in the Western Cape.

A video of an alleged bullying incident at a Cape Town school, in which a learner is seen throwing a brick at another learner’s head, is doing the rounds on social media, and the Western Cape education department is reportedly investigating the violent attack.

Police Pics and Clips shared the video on their Facebook page, and Netwerk24 uploaded the video to YouTube. The faces of the children have been blurred so as to protect their identities.

According to a report by News24, the father of the boy who was hit by the brick has opened an assault case against the perpetrator in a bid to teach him that actions have consequences.

In the report, the father further explained that the two learners had been in confrontation earlier in the day. The father reportedly said the bully who eventually throws a brick at his son apparently threatened to throw a tennis ball at other children, exchanged insults with his son and fetched two bricks that he threatened to use against his son before his son threw them aside.

The learner then reportedly picked up another brick, which he then threw at the other boy’s head, as is seen in the video.

On watching the video, a doctor reportedly commented that the boy could have sustained serious brain damage from the incident.
