Nando’s distances itself from fake Kuga ad

The company says it would never poke fun at people who have experienced misfortune.

Nando’s released a statement on Tuesday distancing itself from a spoof poster created by a user on social media that uses the company’s corporate identity and advert style to poke fun at the misfortunes of Ford Kuga owners.

The company says: “The current poster doing the rounds poking fun at Ford Kugas is definitely not an official Nando’s advert. At Nando’s, we don’t poke fun at anyone who has experienced misfortune. In addition, this poster does not accurately reflect our visual identity and certainly does not reflect our brand values.”

Floyd Nkuna posted the ad on his timeline hours after Ford announced the recall on Monday of 4 556 Ford Kuga 1.6 litre models made between 2012 and 2014.
