Public protector Mkhwebane to hold talks with BLF
The organisation wants to discuss with her the alleged theft of R26 billion by 'white monopoly capital' and its 'capture of the state'.

Members of the Black First Land First (BLF) organisation are expected to hold talks with public protector Busisiwe Mkhwebane on Thursday.

The organisation, which according to its website says it aims to “ensure the institutional destruction of white supremacy, including the anti-black system of power, social organisation, political arrangement and economic slavery” in the country, said it wanted to discuss issues they had initially raised with former public protector Thuli Madonsela but weren’t addressed by the time she left office in October last year.
Among the issues it wanted to discuss with Mkhwebane included white monopoly capital’s alleged theft of R26 billion from the South African Reserve Bank and its capture of the state. The BLF claimed that billionaire businessman Johann Rupert and Barclays Africa CEO Maria Ramos were some of the people involved in this, it said in a statement on Monday.
The office of the public protector has confirmed the meeting.
The group’s leader Andile Mngxitama has previously criticised Madonsela of protecting white monopoly capital interests and undermining black people.

In July last year there was commotion at the public protector’s Pretoria office when Mngxitama and his supporters were arrested after storming the building illegally.
Armed police had to be called in when the party members refused to leave without being given an audience with Madonsela, despite being informed by security officials that she was in Johannesburg doing charity work.
On Madonsela’s last day in office in October, Mngxitama also led a sit-in and a march outside the premises.
