The owner of the Traditional Fish and Chips shop in Linden, Johannesburg was shot in the face during an attempted robbery at about 7pm on Saturday.

Linden Police spokesperson Captain Alex Vermaak said the man chased after the two suspects, who were on a motorcycle, following the shooting, Randburg Sun reported.

The motorcycle lost control on Tana Road and one suspect managed to get away on foot, while the other was seized and arrested by the police. He was injured when the motorcycle fell.

“The suspect is in hospital under police supervision and the shop owner is also in hospital recovering,” said Vermaak.

He added that police retrieved an unlicensed firearm and the suspects did not manage to get away with anything from the shop.
