A taxi passenger pulled out a loaded firearm and a shot was fired during a dispute over a seat in the vehicle last night in Hillcrest, Durban, Highway Mail reports.
Blue Security spokesperson Andreas Mathios said a man jumped into the taxi at about 6pm and started arguing with another passenger over a seat at the back of the taxi. The taxi was parked at a rank on Old Main Road.
“The man pulled out a firearm and threatened to shoot the other passenger, who then wrestled with him in an attempt to disarm him. A shot went off and hit the floor of the taxi, causing the passengers to flee the vehicle in different directions,” he said.
