Shacks destroyed in Pretoria squatter camp
The fire is believed to have started when it was kindled to keep people warm.

About 15 shacks were destroyed in fire in in the Cemetery View squatter camp, east of Pretoria.
General manager of The Wilds Estate Jaco Breytenbach said the fire broke out around 1am on Sunday, Rekord East reported.
He said Bidvest Security Coin, along with the police, ambulance services and the Tshwane emergency services responded to the scene.
“The cause of the blaze is unknown, but it is believed to have started when a fire was kindled to keep people warm.”
Breytenbach said the last flames were extinguished around 2.30am and no injuries had been reported.
“We are currently waiting for disaster management to arrive on the scene.”
He said he received reports of more smoke coming from the squatter camp by 8.40pm.
