Second pupil hit by train in two weeks
About 300 children use the train every day, and the last safety awareness talk was conducted five years ago.
The grade nine pupil was knocked by the train a the Groutville Train Station.
A 13-year-old girl is in critical condition after being hit by a train at Groutville Railway Station on the Dolphin Coast in KwaZulu-Natal on Monday, North Coast Courier reports.
According to a witness, Aneliswa Alick was running too close to the railway line when she was knocked down by the train.
Paul Herbst from IPSS Medical Rescue confirmed that the Grade 9 pupil suffered severe head trauma and is undergoing surgery at Netcare Alberlito Hospital today (Tuesday).

Just last week, another pupil from Tshelenkosi Secondary School lost her life after being hit by a train at the Compensation Railway Station.
The school principal Sfiso Cebekhulu said he believed that Prasa (Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa) should conduct more safety awareness talks at schools.
“We have about 300 children using the train every day, but the last safety awareness talk at our school was conducted five years ago,” said Cebekhulu.
