The event formed part of the celebrations of KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’s 100th birthday and the planes would be recycled and used as compost in a sustainable garden at Mother of Peace Orphanage near Diepsloot.
Fifteen schools took part across Gauteng and 15,300 planes were thrown at 8.15am.
