After a branch meeting that took place last night, the West Rand members in Riverlea organised a shutdown of roads until someone hears them, Westside Eldos reports.
According to a source, they have been complaining about service delivery for too long, and nothing has been done, so today the residents of Riverlea took to the streets to have their voices heard.
The fighting is for proper housing development in the area, the elimination of all drugs and drug dens, employment for the youth and for the households to get back their electricity, which was switched off over the weekend.
The metro police were on the scene and had to put out the fire and removed rubble from the streets.

The protest managed to help the residents get a meeting with a person (name to be confirmed) who handles property development at the Empowerment Centre at 11.30am.
Main Reef Road is now open, but the roads in Riverlea are still closed off with trees, branches, rocks and some burning tyres.
Langlaagte police have been at the scene all morning and have asked protesters to remove everything on the road.
They have cleared the road on Avon Street.
