R2.5m worth of stolen goods seized

A 51-year-old suspect was arrested after he was found in possession of stolen goods to the value of R2.5 million, during an operation held on Thursday in Malvern, KwaZulu-Natal, Rising Sun Chatsworth reports.

The eThekwini Outer North intelligence-driven operation, Provincial Organised Crime, eThekwini Inner South Cluster Crime Combatting Unit, Metro Police and Umlazi K9 Unit were part of the operation, which yielded positive results.

Police officers nabbed the suspect after receiving information that the suspect had stolen goods on his property, which were linked to various cases in KZN.

The officers obtained a search warrant and searched the Malvern property.

After searching the entire property, they seized 185 brand new Falcon Tyres, which were linked to a Pinetown case as well as 1 049 boxes of Nivea Skincare products, which had been linked to a Hammersdale case.

The suspect was arrested and charged for Section 36: Possession of Stolen Property and Section 37: Receiving Stolen Property. He will appear in court soon.

The commander of the eThekwini Inner South Cluster, Major-General Nunkumar commended members for their excellent work in successfully seizing the stolen goods.
