Pretoria man jumps from fourth floor in ‘suicide attempt’

He jumped from the fourth floor and hit the ground floor balcony, according to a security guard.

A man allegedly tried to commit suicide in the Pretoria CBD on Tuesday.

Security guard Kenneth Tebogo Kekana said this happened at The Foundation student accommodation building on Madiba Street at about 6.40am, Rekord East reported.

“The man was on the fourth floor. I suspect that he might have been intoxicated because he was not in a normal state,” said Kekana.

“He then jumped from the fourth floor and hit the ground floor balcony.”

Another security guard, who asked to remain anonymous, said he did not believe the man wanted to kill himself.

“If he wanted to kill himself, we would have found him dead or injured,” said the security guard.

“He was okay. He was just on the fourth floor and refused to get off when we asked him to.”

He said they called the police to fetch the young man.

Paramedics were also dispatched, but the man was not injured.

Pretoria Central police are still looking into the matter.
