A 51-year-old man died at his home in Dawncrest, Verulam in north of Durban, after reportedly consuming tainted alcohol over the weekend, Phoenix Sun reports.

Local security company Reaction Unit South Africa received an anonymous tip-off that the man had died in his home.

The caller also informed the controller on duty that they believed the family was behaving suspiciously. Reaction officers and paramedics responded to the home and, upon arrival, were met by a 59-year-old woman at the perimeter fence.

She initially informed officers that she was alone at home. After a few minutes, the woman claimed her brother had consumed alcohol with his friends over the weekend and had been sick ever since. She suspected that an unknown person had poisoned his beer.

The woman was initially reluctant to allow officers into the property. However, she eventually agreed to allow paramedics to assess him.

Upon entering the home, the man was found to have been deceased for several hours, as rigor mortis had already set in. He was wearing an adult diaper. His sister claimed she was unaware that her brother had died and assumed he was sleeping.
