According to the taxi driver and some witnesses, the woman had crossed the road to catch another taxi while the traffic light was green.
A woman sustained head injuries after she was hit by a taxi in the east of Pretoria on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old pedestrian was crossing the road when a minibus taxi, driving along Cussonia Avenue, hit her at about 8am, Rekord East reported.
Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Peter Khoza said, according to the taxi driver and some witnesses, the woman had crossed the road to catch another taxi while the traffic light was green.
“It is believed the driver had the right of way, but we are still going to open an inquest,” said Khoza.
He said a case of negligent driving would be opened.
