Will the festive break derail the Chiefs train?

As the year comes to an end, football sometimes turns to take the back seat as supporters prioritise the festive activities.

As footballers are not machines, they too will partake in the festivities to celebrate the ending of the year.

As the result of these year-end festivities, players will need to try to get back to top speed by working on their fitness like they do during the pre-season.

Many believe that the season is won and lost in December for most clubs because stopping the league in the middle of the season when the team is on a roll sometimes break down the momentum of that team.

A good healthy lead between the side at the summit of the league table and the chasing pack can sometimes be lost after the festive break.

Kaizer Chiefs are tipped as the favourites to win the league, but coach Ernst Middendorp has called for calm so many times that he is starting to sound doubtful of his side going over the finish line in May 2020.

The experienced German, however, knows what it’s like to be left with egg on his face and is preventing potential embarrassment and disappointing the supporters.

For Chiefs to go all the way, Middendorp has a plan and his players need to follow it to the tee in order to celebrate their 50th anniversary in style by winning the league title in May.
